Metro lists the Winter Storm Response Commission public hearing for Thursday, May 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Metro Nashville Public Schools Administration Building.
The meeting listing says the Office of Emergency Management and Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster will be present. That makes today's hearing about both official response and the nonprofit/community response that residents feel when systems get strained.
Executive Order 058 created the commission after the January 2026 winter storm, when Nashville saw widespread outages, property and infrastructure damage, business closures, and displacement.
For East Nashville, the useful questions are concrete: who communicates first, where do people without power go, how do vulnerable residents get checked on, what did tree and utility coordination miss, and what changes before the next storm.
Source Desk: Confirmed from the Metro meeting page and Executive Order 058.
The neighborhood does not need outage lore. It needs a better operating manual.
